Belgian nationality

As a foreigner established in Belgium for several years, you will have all the advantages associated with Belgian nationality by benefiting from the status of Belgian citizen and the rights relating thereto.

 

Such a request is complex and requires the use of legal aid. In fact, the regulations were radically modified in 2013.

• As a minor, you can acquire Belgian nationality by automatic attribution of nationality (adoption, birth in Belgium, etc.).

• If you are of legal age, you can acquire nationality by declaration or possibly by the exceptional naturalization procedure.

 

In all cases, prior to acquiring nationality, the person concerned must legally reside in Belgium with a residence permit taken into consideration by the Belgian Nationality Code.
