🇧🇪 URGENT: Belgium tightens family reunification rules. Act NOW or risk being too late.
🧩 Context
Belgium is about to significantly tighten the rules for family reunification.
✅ A new reform has just been approved by the Parliamentary Commission.
📅 It will come into force right after the summer recess.
💥 For many families, this summer is their last chance.
📉 What’s about to change:
💶 Minimum income required = 110% of social integration income + 10% per additional family member
👉 Example: To bring a spouse + 2 children, you must prove €2,745 net/month.
⏳ Waiting period removed for people with subsidiary protection status (but not for full refugees).
🎂 Minimum age for family reunification: 21 years.
⚠️ Why this is URGENT:
📅 Applications submitted before the new law takes effect will still be judged under the old rules.
👉 That means you must act before the end of the summer.
⏰ Every week of delay could make the difference between a reunited family and an impossible future.
💬 What you should do NOW:
✅ If you’re affected or know someone who is, speak to a lawyer, NGO or advisor immediately.
✅ File your application before September — it may be the only chance.
